Artists (painters, musicians, poets, dancers, and so on) are at pains to find new forms of expression. Repeating what others have done before them is out of the question. But do they ask themselves whether the search for novelty at all costs may not be taking them further and further away from the source of beauty and harmony? For it is always easier for them to find novelty by sinking into the lower realms of the astral plane than by making the effort to lift themselves up to the peaks of true inspiration. So many so-called artists don’t even know what art is! They have no skill; they merely give way to instinct, to the impulse to create. Of course, you can create, whatever direction you take, good or bad. When you move away from the Source, from the spiritual sun, you can still find new forms, new perspectives. But those new forms and perspectives often belong to a world of darkness, disorder and chaos: they begin by destroying the ‘artists’ who have ventured there, and they have nothing of worth to offer the public who become acquainted with these works.
